Site History

A brief history of robinmassart.com
I first became interested in the internet at university round about the time that the Mosaic browser was released and have had a very keen interest in the Net ever since. So much so, that despite graduating in Aeronautical Engineering I have somehow ended up as web developer. But I love the possibilities that the Net provides, particularly the fact that anybody can have a 'voice' on it and make themselves heard without requiring millions for an advertising campaign. I used it as my primary information source for preparing my Round-The-World trip and on return decided to give something back to the online community by creating a site about my experiences whilst travelling. Over the years the site has become what you see here today. My first site is presumeably in the Recycle Bin of an older version Windows on a computer in somebodies attic. The first proper, published site you can view here, although I don't think you will see much in Mozilla! The second version, is mainly the same as the current one, but was purely html (no server-side scripting) on the server, mainly because I didn't want to pay too much for the server. It was however 'put together' on my local computer using ASP, in order to have a common layout and menu. The current version has been ported to PHP and placed on the Net using a provider that supports PHP at a reasonable cost.
